Frequently Asked Questions

We provide free quotes within the City of Winnipeg. Once you contact us via phone or email, we will plan to visit your property to look at the trees or shrubs at our earliest opportunity. We don’t require that you meet us on-site, however, if there are specific branches you would like pruned off or you have a large number of trees, we can arrange to meet. The person who visits your property will be an ISA Certified Arborist.

Once we have assessed the scope of work, we will either email or mail you a detailed, and descriptive quote.

The arborists who will be working on your trees will either be ISA Certified, or will be training with a Certified arborist. The ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) Certification is a higher-level credential and has replaced the previous requirement which was a Manitoba Arborist Licence. ISA Certification is the new standard in Manitoba.
Trilogy Tree Services Ltd. maintains a valid, multi-million dollar general liability policy and we are in good standing with Manitoba Workers Compensation Board. This means if anything should happen to physical property or to one of our employees while on your, or your neighbours property, you will not be held liable

The Certified Arborist credential identifies professional arborists who have a minimum of three years’ full-time experience working in the professional tree care industry and who have passed an examination covering various aspects of arboriculture. ISA Certified Arborists must also adhere to the Code of Ethics that strengthens the credibility and reliability of the workforce. Certified Arborists must also continue their education to maintain their certification. Therefore, they are more likely to be up-to-date on the latest techniques in arboriculture.

We can work in very tight spaces with limited access. Our arborists are trained in climbing and rigging. This skillset allows us to access all parts of the tree regardless of whether there is a back lane or a riverbank. We do not have to drive heavy vehicles or equipment over your lawn and garden. We can lower limbs on ropes to enable us to work over structures and to minimize the impact on the landscape.

We provide full, same day clean-up (unless other arrangements have been made) of branches and wood. We have built a fine reputation for our meticulous clean-up, and pride ourselves on excellent service from start to finish.

Keeping the wood depends on the species and where you are burning it. According to regulations, you may not keep elm wood that still has bark attached. You may keep all other species including Ash, however, you are not permitted to move it outside of the city.

Yes, we can leave wood chips on site. They will be dumped onto your property, therefore a suitable place with easy access is required. You will receive whatever is in the truck on that day. The amount could be anywhere from 1 to 10 yards, of mixed species from multiple properties.

No, we do not require that you are home when we do the work although you are welcome to stick around to watch!

No, large shade trees are complex living beings; they sense weaknesses in their structure and their growth reacts to accommodate this. Topping of trees or significantly reducing the crown size negatively impacts the long term structure of the tree. Removing a large portion of the crown stimulates a stress response that results in multiple shoots emerging from the point at which the tree was cut. The resultant shoots grow at a rate that far exceeds the normal growth rate of branches and the attachment points are much weaker. Essentially topping a tree results in a faster-growing, thicker and weaker structured crown.
